College Scholarships for Black Americans
A Black American is a member of the ethnic group in the United
States whose ancestors roots are predominantly in Africa. Most are
descendants of African slaves transported from Central Africa during
the trans-Atlantic slave trade era (1609-1807). Others are immigrants
from European and African nations. Many are now regarded as Great
Black Americans. for example:
- Barak Obama - current President of the USA
- Malcolm X - designated National Spokesman for Nation of Islam,
a religious and socio-political organization founded in the United
States which is aimed to resurrect the mental, social, spiritual,
and economic condition of black men and women in the country as
well as on other parts of the world.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. - the famous leader of the American
civil right movement and winner the Nobel Peace Prize promoted
peace and equal treatment of different races throughout the world.
- Muhammad Ali - three-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion
and one of the best pound-for-pound boxers ever existed, which
made his way towards the Boxing Hall of Fame.
Despite of the greatness of a such Black American personalities,
poverty is still higher within Black American families. This makes
gaining a college education particularly difficult, particularly
in exclusive universities such as Harvard and Yale.
Ethnic discrimination may have passed, but economic discrimination
still lingers. To help overcome this inequality, hundreds of college
scholarships are made available exclusively to Black American students.
Many of these college scholarships are provided by Black American
and African organizations [civic and religious], as well as government-sponsored
scholarships for black students.
The United States Constitution clearly states that there should
be no discrimination in terms of getting a solid and well-provided
education to its citizens. These scholarships for aspiring black
college students helps to deliver to that promise.
If you are a Black American, and are from a family that is struggling
financially, don't give up on your dream of becoming another Barak
Obama, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, or Muhammad Ali. Poverty is
just a minor obstacle - when dreams are so big.
You may also consider Christian
college scholarships. and for the athletes who possess that
great Black American physique and strength, there are special Athletic
Scholarships available.
